Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project is your chance for early admission to a tuition-free program at one of the leading universities in Russia.
New this year are the availability of the doctoral track in all subject areas, and the preliminary entry tests. Registration closes on December 10
▶The Open Doors International Olympiad is starting for the fifth time! Depending on the chosen direction, the winners of the Olympiad will be able to enroll for free in the master’s or postgraduate programs of their chosen University. Participants of the doctoral track will be able to choose a future research supervisor and pass an interview with them during the Olympiad.
▶Participation in the Olympiad and further education at the University are possible in Russian or English.
▶This year there are 14 subject areas available, same as last year. The crucial difference is that the doctoral track is now available in ALL of them instead of just six.
▶Foreigners from ANY country can participate in the Olympiad, as well as compatriots permanently residing abroad and stateless persons. Participants of the master’s track must have a bachelor’s or specialist’s degree or be completing an appropriate level of education in 2022. Participants of the doctoral track will need a specialist’s or a master’s degree.
▶Additionally, to be allowed to participate, you’ll have to pass a short test in each of your selected subject areas. We designed it to make a preliminary evaluation of your knowledge level and get you acquainted with the Olympiad’s interface. If you are unable to pass this test in five attempts, you won’t be able to start filling in your portfolio and participate in the Olympiad.
▶Both master’s and doctoral tracks include 2 rounds that are held online. The first round is a portfolio competition. Those who have been successfully selected after the evaluation of the portfolios are invited to take part in the second round – the Olympiad itself, which is a series of proctored online tests.
▶In addition to those two rounds, the doctoral track includes one additional round which consists of online interviews with up to three potential research advisors at the participant’s choice. If any of the interviews is successful, the participant chooses a research advisor from among those who gave them a pass.
▶Subject area programs, demo versions of the second-round assignments and the doctoral track materials, as well as the complete rules, requirements, terms and conditions of participation in the Olympiad are available on
https://od.globaluni.ru/en in more detail. Also, check out our renewed
FAQ section where we covered all the major inquiries you might have on every stage of the Olympiad.
▶Please note that currently ALL foreign students are allowed to enter Russia, but each university has its own guidelines on how exactly to do it. Also, if you apply and are accepted as a winner by both Open Doors and Rossotrudnichestvo, you’ll have to choose only one scholarship – getting both is impossible.
▶Registration is open from September 15, 2021, to December 10, 2021. Previous accounts have been deleted, so If you are a last year’s participant wishing to try again, you’ll have to register again and fill the portfolio anew.
Scholarship Value
▶
The tuition fees and a monthly stipend are covered by the scholarship. All other expenses (travel, food, accommodation, communication services, medical insurance) are on you, but accommodation in the universities is usually very cheap. We cover the organizing universities and their accommodations regularly on our social media pages. For more detailed info contact the university you are interested in.
Required Documents for the Stage 1
▶Only motivational letter and education level proof are required. Without providing them, you won’t be able to submit your portfolio and take part in the second stage. Consequently, you’ll lose the opportunity to become a winner/prize-winner and get a scholarship through Open Doors. The motivational letter must be typed (or copied and then pasted from a document) into the corresponding form. Educational documents are uploaded to the corresponding fields. To take part in the Olympiad, after registering on the website it is necessary to log in, click Fill in portfolio, fill in the motivational letter, upload the documents and submit the portfolio. The degree is your main educational document (bachelor’s to participate in master’s track, magister’s or specialist’s to participate in the doctoral track). If you haven’t yet received your degree or haven’t got it available for any other reason, you can upload your official transcript, last or current year’s statement of marks, a scan of your grade sheet or other documents confirming your level of education. In this case you’ll have to provide the degree later, when getting admitted in the university. All other document that you can upload are optional. But their presence might boost the maximum score you’ll be able to get after stage 1.
