Under the Birkbeck, University of London International Excellence Scholarships, a limited number of scholarships are awarded to foreign students registering in the Autumn 2022 intake on a full-time postgraduate or undergraduate taught program. 

Benefits

The scholarship value equals to £1,000 – £5,000. This is a discount to be applied to the tuition fee for the first year of study only. 

Eligibility Criteria

Criteria include (1) Being an international overseas tuition fee-paying student having an unconditional offer on a full-time postgraduate or undergraduate taught program that was offered by Birkbeck, commencing in Autumn 2021, (2) The student must have been evaluated as an international fee-payer for being qualified for this scholarship, (3) The candidates are ordinarily residing in a country belonging to the relevant region, you are self-funded, (4) you are considered as an ‘International’ tuition fee payer.

It is important to mention that only 1 scholarship can be awarded for each student and the scholarship cannot normally be held in conjunction with another scholarship. You may apply for several scholarships; if you win many scholarships, the highest amount scholarship will be offered to you. 

Application Procedure

When you have an unconditional offer from Birkbeck, you can submit application online for the region corresponding to your ordinary residence.

▶ Application form for those ordinarily residing in Asia/Central Asia : This form can be filled by a candidate who is a national of, and who lives in, one of these countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.

▶ Application form for those ordinarily residing in East Asia/South East Asia : This form is for the applicant who is a national of, and who lives in, one of the these countries: Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Macau SAR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam.

▶ Application form for those ordinarily residing in the Middle East/North Africa : This is the form to be completed by the applicant who is a national of, and who lives in, one of these countries: Tunisia. Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey.

▶ Application form for those ordinarily residing in North America : This is the form for the candidate who is a national of, and who lives in, Canada or the United States.

▶ Application form for those ordinarily residing in Latin America/the Caribbean : For completing this form, you need to be a national of, and must live in, any Latin America or Caribbean country, except Brazil. For the Brazilian citizen, you can apply for the Birkbeck Global Future Scholarship, for instance.

▶ Application form for those ordinarily residing in Sub Saharan Africa : This form is for the applicant who is a national of, and who lives in, one of these countries: Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Democratic Republic), Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, eSwatini, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, The Gambia, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Important Dates

Regarding courses commencing in the Autumn 2022, the closing date for apply for the scholarship application is: (1) Round 1: midnight UK time on Sunday 29 May 2022, (2) Round 2: midnight UK time on Sunday 17 July 2022 (31 July for Sub-Saharan Africa). The candidates who have submitted applications by the first deadline do not need to send a new application for being considered for the round two.
