The Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships are for applicants from lower middle-income, low, and least developed Commonwealth countries, for doing part-time Master’s course under the distance learning on chosen courses which are taught by universities in the United Kingdom.

Such scholarships are financed by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office for contributing to needs for development of Commonwealth countries by offering training for qualified and skilled professionals in key areas of development. These scholarships are awarded under 6 CSC Development themes.

Benefits

A Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship is for covering tuition fees as well as study grants where needed. Please note that other bursaries, awards, or scholarships covering the same expenses may not be held simultaneously.

Who Should Apply?

Applicants for the Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship should be:

①A citizen of or having been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or being a British Protected Person

②Being permanently residing in a developing Commonwealth country

③Being unable to cover expenses for studying the program without the Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship.

④Holding a first degree of at least upper second class standard. A lower qualification with sufficient relevant experience may be taken into consideration in certain circumstances

Only applicants from the Twenty Five eligible countries (Bangladesh, Belize, Cameroon, Eswatini, Ghana, India, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, The Gambia, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, and Zambia) can submit their applications for the Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships in 2022.

Important Dates

The closing date for receiving candidate applications is 18:00 (GMT) on March 15, 2022.

Supporting documents including at least one reference, an offer letter for commencing the selected study course in the academic year 2022-2023, and full transcripts for your higher education, need to be submitted by 17:00 (GMT) on April 5, 2022 for the application to be considered. 

It is important to note that such documents must be submitted using the online application system.
