Of course, you need to meet eligibility criteria and to follow the terms and conditions of such scholarship program.

The Global Korea Scholarship is for providing foreign students with opportunities for doing their studies at Korean higher educational institutions in pursuit of academic degrees, in order to enhance international education exchange as well as for deepening mutual friendship between and participating countries and Korea.

The 2022 GKS-UIC Program will be awarded to candidates who want to do their study programs at the Associate Degree (1 year of Korean language program plus 2~3 years of degree program) and Bachelor’s Degree (1 year of Korean language program plus 4 years of degree program) levels.

It is important to mention that this is the University Track Program, and that only some fields are available in departments providing customized curriculum as well as field experience under the industry-university cooperation which emphasizes on the areas of engineering and national science.  

For Bachelor’s Degree, there are eight universities including Kookmin University, Soonchunhyang University, Ajou University, Korea Polytechnic University, Pusan National University, Sogang University, Korea University of Technology and Education, and Konyang University.

For Associate Degree, there are 2 universities comprising Yeungjin University and Kyungbok University.

Who Should Apply?

①This program is available for all candidates from any country.

②All candidates and their parents must not have Korean citizenship.

③Regarding education level of applicants, candidates who graduated (or are expecting a graduation) from a high school can submit applications for an Associate degree program or for a Bachelor’s degree program. Candidates who graduated (or are expecting a graduation) from an associate degree program can only submit applications for a Bachelor’s degree program.

④Concerning grades, all candidates must have kept a CGPA equivalent to or greater than any ONE of the following from their previous degree program (i.e. candidates for Associate Degree: High School program. Candidates for Bachelor’s Degree: Associate Degree or High School program).

CGPA must be above 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5 or 3.23/5.0. Score percentile should be 80% or more on a 100-point scale or be ranked within the top 20% within candidate’s class.

⑤About the age requirements, the candidates must be under 25 years old (born after September 1, 1997).

⑥Regarding health, all candidates must be in good health, both physically and mentally for studying in Korea for the full period of the program. All candidates must have no grounds for disqualification like criminal history for travelling abroad.

Important Dates

Firstly, application guidelines are announced on the Study in Korea (www.studyinkorea.go.kr)

Regarding the first round of selection (Universities);

①Please note that each university will announce the schedule of their first round of selection schedule on their website.

②The deadline for submitting applications (Universities) will be decided by each university.

③The announcement for the first selection round (Universities) will be done by April 29.

④Applications of the successful Candidates of the first round (Universities → NIIED) will arrive at NIIED by April 29.

Concerning the second round of selection (NIIED);

①Successful candidates of the second round will be published by late May.

②The deadline for submission official medical examination result issued by a licensed hospital or a medical doctor (second round successful candidates → NIIED): by June 15th (Wed.).

③It is expected that 2022 GKS-UIC Scholars (NIIED) will be announced in late June. NIIED will notify final results to Universities – The final successful candidates will be published on Study in Korea website.
