Important Dates and application submission

It is important to note that the details such as the application deadline for each fellowship vary by region.

For Africa, India and Southeast Asia:

►Africa: The application window for the Google Africa PhD Fellowship program is currently open. Applications can be submitted by 11:59:59pm UTC-12 (AoE) April 27, 2022. Decisions notification will be done in June 2022.

►India: The application window for the India Google PhD Fellowship program for the 2022 award cycle will be opened in April 2022 and closed in May 2022. Decisions notification will be done by September 2022.

►Southeast Asia: The application window for the Southeast Asia Google PhD Fellowship program for the 2022 award cycle will be opened in April 2022 and will be closed in May 2022. Decisions notification will be done by September 2022.

For Australia and New Zealand:

Doctoral students have to be nominated by their university. Instructions for nomination are sent to eligible universities and applications need to be submitted by an official representative of the university during the application. 

Applications for the Australia and New Zealand Google PhD Fellowship program for the 2022 award cycle will be opened in April 2022 and will be closed in May 2022. Decisions notification will be done by July 2022.

For Canada, Europe and the United States:

Doctoral students have to be nominated by their university. Applications need to be submitted by an official representative of the university during the application. 

The application for the 2022 program for the Canada, Europe, and United States Google PhD Fellowship program is closed. But the applications for the 2023 award cycle will be opened in September 2022 and will be closed at the end of September 2022. Decisions notification will be done by January 2023.

For East Asia:

Doctoral students in Taiwan and Korea have to be nominated by their university. After the completion of the nomination by the university, either nominated students or university admin can submit applications during the application. In Japan, PhD students apply directly. 

The application window for the Google East Asia PhD Fellowship program is currently open, and applications can be submitted by 11:59:59pm UTC−12:00 May 11, 2022. Decisions notification will be done in July 2022.
