Eligibility Criteria

UNITAR and UOC award only a limited number of partially funded scholarships to students in need of financial support from LDCs. Allocation of scholarship at UNITAR is very competitive and not each suitable applicant can be awarded the partial scholarship funding.

For being considered for a scholarship, you have to tick the relevant box during the pre-registration process. UNITAR actively looks for funds in order to sponsor the tuition fees of qualified applicants. The terms and conditions associated with the award will be agreed by UNITAR and the donor on a bilateral basis. In case a donors does not want to apply specific criteria, UNITAR will choose applicants by considering the criteria listed below:

❶ No previous studies at the graduate level;

❷ Likelihood to implement activities related to peace and conflict management in a conflict or post-conflict context;

❸ Citizenship of a developing country;

❹ Years of relevant professional experience;

❺ Academic excellence at the high school and undergraduate levels.

❻ Low financial resources;

❼ Active demand by the applicant;

When there is equal qualifications, female candidates and candidates from LDCs will be more preferable. You can find attached an updated list of current LDCs. (as of February 2021)

Important Dates

Applications can be submitted throughout the year and students are accepted on a rolling basis. But, there are deadlines in order to be considered for a particular semester. For the fall semester, the closing date is September 15, while for the spring semester, the deadline is January 15.
