The Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA) scholarships are offered to students who are doing eligible post-graduate research which is relevant to the minerals industry of Western Australia. Every year, the MRIWA awards 3 scholarships in order to finance postgraduate research training in any discipline which is relevant to the Minerals Industry in Western Australia: The MRIWA Indigenous Scholarship (available to Indigenous Australian applicants only), The MRIWA PhD Scholarship for Women (available to women applicants only), and the MRIWA Odwyn Jones PhD Scholarship. Such scholarships are for encouraging and enabling students of exceptional research promise to do higher degrees by research at universities in Western Australia.

Benefits

The value of the MRIWA Scholarships includes an annual stipend of up to $36,047 and an allowance of $5,151 for supporting research and travel costs for a period of up to 3 years, and it is possible for the scholarship to be extended for a duration of 6 months.

Who Should Apply?

As the MRIWA postgraduate scholarships are open to both international and domestic candidates (subject to the award conditions) and are tenable at any university in Western Australia. Candidates for the MRIWA 2023 Postgraduate Scholarships must meet the following eligibility criteria:

▶ Having submitted a completed application form and research proposal to MRIWA;

▶ Meeting the admission requirements to a relevant Higher Degree by Research program at an eligible university, and having applied for entry into that program;

▶ Be undertaking research which is relevant to the minerals industry of Western Australia.

▶ Meeting all specified eligibility requirements for the scholarship(s) you are applying for.
