Undergraduate Students Scholarships at the National Taiwan University

The good news is that there are educational opportunities in the form of scholarships which are offered to outstanding applicants for doing their university studies at the National Taiwan University (NTU).

As mentioned below, there are various scholarships opportunities awarded to qualified undergraduate students at the National Taiwan University.

National Taiwan University Scholarships

International Student Financial Assistance Grant (available to international degree students, and it covers full tuition waiver/reimbursement + monthly allowance of NTD 6,000 (USD 200) or a full tuition waiver/reimbursement). Offered for a maximum period of four years for undergraduate degree students. For being renewed, students need to have 3.0 GPA or above in their 1st year, 3.2 GPA or above in their 2nd year, and 3.33 GPA or above in their 3rd year. Regarding the application, candidates have only to check the scholarship application box during their degree online application system. Please note that no extra procedures or documents needed.

Scholarship for Overseas Students Admitted through Recommendation by High Schools (open to Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, or Macao students who are admitted to the National Taiwan University through recommendation by Overseas High Schools).

Government Scholarships

These scholarships are applied directly with the relevant ministry or with the Taiwan overseas mission in the home country of the applicant. The National Taiwan University is not involved with their applications and cannot assist applicants. For any query about them, applicants need to address them directly to the parties which are concerned.

The Government scholarships include the following scholarship programs:

MOFA Taiwan Scholarship (open to students from countries having diplomatic relations with Taiwan. But, special consideration may also be given to students from other countries. The scholarship covers a monthly allowance of NTD 30,000, one-way economy-class plane tickets for direct flights to and from Taiwan, and reduced tuition fees. It is granted for a maximum period of four years.

MOE Taiwan Scholarship: Available to candidates who are nationals of countries not in the scope of the MOFA Taiwan Scholarship. Offered for a maximum period of four years, and it covers a monthly stipend of NTD 15,000 and a tuition waiver of up to NTD 40,000 per semester.

There are other scholarships offered at the National Taiwan University. For these scholarships, the payment is handled by the institute in charge of the scholarship. In this category, there is the Taiwan/Republic of China-PIFS Scholarship Scheme, which is granted for part time or full time studies for students at the certificate, diploma undergraduate or postgraduate levels within the specified priority fields.
