University of Toronto Lester B. Pearson Scholarship

The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship is the University of Toronto’s most prestigious award for international students, recognizing academic achievement, creativity, and leadership potential. This competitive scholarship provides an opportunity for outstanding young leaders to join a global community of changemakers.

Each year, approximately 37 students from around the world are selected as Pearson Scholars. With over $12 million in funding in 2024 and representation from 188 countries, the program has become one of Canada’s largest scholarship initiatives for international students. The award covers tuition, books, incidental fees, and full residence support for four years, making it a life-changing opportunity.

To be eligible, students must be international applicants requiring a study permit, in their final year of secondary school in 2025/2026 (or recently graduated), and beginning undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto in September 2026. Current post-secondary students or those starting elsewhere before September 2026 are not eligible.

The application process begins with a nomination from the student’s high school, which must submit its candidate between July 1 and October 10, 2025. Applicants must then apply to an undergraduate program at the University of Toronto by October 17, 2025. Once nominated, students will receive a private link to the scholarship application, due by November 7, 2025.

The University of Toronto cautions students to avoid fraudulent agencies or third-party offers, as only schools may nominate candidates through the official process.
