The EU-funded STREAMING project has launched an Open Call for Knowledge Transfer, inviting organizations from Africa and Europe to develop practical digital training courses for farmers, processors, start-ups, and public health actors working toward sustainable food trade systems.

About the STREAMING Project

STREAMING — Sustainable Trade Regimes with Europe and Africa through Mapping Innovation, New-technology and Growth-mindset — is a Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action. Its goal is to develop fair, healthy, and environmentally sustainable food systems by addressing trade barriers between Africa and international markets, with a particular focus on women, youth, farmers, and start-ups.

This Knowledge Transfer Open Call is the first of two cascade funding rounds under STREAMING. It funds the creation of interactive digital learning courses connecting researchers with frontline food chain actors. A second Innovation Transfer call will follow in the second half of 2026.

Topics Covered

What Training Topics Are Funded?

Each proposal must address one of the eight priority topics below. Applicants choose a main topic and may indicate an alternative. Sub-topics listed in the full call document are illustrative — applicants are encouraged to draw on their own expertise.

Courses must include at least 30 × 45-minute units of self-study, be practically oriented, and use interactive digital tools such as videos, quizzes, and where possible H5P or gamification elements.

Who Can Apply

Eligibility & Key Requirements

Eligible applicants are individual organizations or small consortia of 2–3 partners, including research institutions, universities, NGOs, industry partners, innovation hubs, business schools, and vocational colleges from EU Member States, Horizon Europe associated countries, or any African Union member state.

Key priorities: At least 60% of the total budget will go to applicants from African Union member states. Women-led organizations and proposals that actively promote female participation in decision-making and implementation are strongly encouraged and will be considered favorably during evaluation.

Existing STREAMING consortium members and their affiliated entities are not eligible. Each applying consortium may submit only one proposal. Submissions must be made exclusively via email to STREAMING@bayfor.org before the deadline.
